I try to visualise the symbolism that jewellery carries through the use of recognisable, every day objects –ready mades found in the environment that surrounds me.
Jewellery becomes my connection with the world, which I interpret in a smaller scale for the making of wearable objects that become my microcosmos.
Besides the artificial microcosmos that I create, I draw inspiration from the microcosmos of the natural environment. I create jewellery that test the boundaries between the natural and artificial world by depicting natural objects (i.e. flowers) in plastic or metal, interfering with their life cycle and questioning their ephemeral nature.
Do I bring out new life into these objects, or have I forever captured them in the moment of their making?
